I had a standard Coleman gas one with a burner on one side and a grill on the other. It just broke so I need to buy a new stove and/or grill. If I buy a portable gas grill without a burner can I put a pot, pan or coffee percolator on it? Also, if I get one of these… Is it safe to use lava rocks or briquettes? Won’t this help with heat distribution? So far the Weber Go-Anywhere Grill looks like something that might work but I am not sure about the above questions. Thanks a ton!

I was out of town, and when I came home, I discovered bag worms have eaten three of my juniper trees, and they seem to be working their way all over my backyard. Seems to me that my other plants are also dying, and these nasty things are crawling all over the exterior of my house and outdoor furniture (grill, chairs, table, fire-pit..everything)!
I’ve tried using an insecticide (Caterpillar Killer) but it did not seem to help at all. Even the guy at the store said it probably won’t do anything at this point, but I tried it anyways. The worms are getting bigger, and I have no clue how to get rid of them! Please help, I can’t even enjoy my backyard anymore! How do I keep them from eating the rest of my plants?

I work 40+ hrs/wk; net pay: 0/wk

Responsibilites:

Care for 2 boys (5,8), transporting them to and from school, tennis, french lessons, Kumon center (checking/correcting children’s homework for this), park, playdates at which stay and supervise, sometimes for additional children too. Cleaning house: dishes, dusting, sweeping/vacuuming, mopping, thoroughly cleaning bathrooms, laundry, and other tasks listed daily – such as scrubbing outdoor cooking grill, window blinds, base boards..anything.
Food prep/cooking.
Household errands – grocery shopping, dry cleaning, exchanging library books- just some of my normal responsibilities.

At the start of my employment my job description was explained as "mostly childcare with light housekeeping." I’ve been working with the family for 6 months and my duties have increased in number without their acknowledgement of the obvious extra work load. I plan on asking for raise, yet need advice on how much I AM WORTH! Thanks so much!!

Grilled Cajun Style Gator Tail Recipe
(from an experienced louisiana outdoorsman)
4 To 6 Lbs Gator Tail
Lemon wedges

Cajun Seasoning Mix:

12 T Paprika
6 T Garlic powder
3 T Salt
3 T White pepper
3 T Oregano, crushed
3 T Black pepper
2 1/2 T Thyme
1 T Cayenne pepper

To make seasoning mix, I combine paprika, garlic powder, salt, white pepper, oregano, black pepper, thyme and cayenne pepper in jar with tight fitting lid. Shake well to combine. I usually lean up against the wall with my good leg extended for balance. You can fall over while shaking if not careful. This mixture may be stored for up to 3 months
When ready to cook, cut gator tail meat into 1/2" cubes. I use a Butcher Knife and have to be very careful with my one arm, not to miss the meat. Usually, I hold the meat in place with my good foot. You can wash it again later.
Next, roll each cube in 1 tablespoon of the mixture. This is easy to do when you only have 3 fingers. Cook over high heat on an outdoor barbecue grill or under the oven broiler for 4 to 6 minutes, or until gator tail meat is white and firm to the touch. Serve warm with lemon wedges. I use my teeth to squeeze the lemons (no one will ever know) The seasoning mixture will coat up to 24 (4 oz.) servings of gator tail.
This is from our Alligator recipes collection. Bon Appetite!
