I work 40+ hrs/wk; net pay: 0/wk

Responsibilites:

Care for 2 boys (5,8), transporting them to and from school, tennis, french lessons, Kumon center (checking/correcting children’s homework for this), park, playdates at which stay and supervise, sometimes for additional children too. Cleaning house: dishes, dusting, sweeping/vacuuming, mopping, thoroughly cleaning bathrooms, laundry, and other tasks listed daily – such as scrubbing outdoor cooking grill, window blinds, base boards..anything.
Food prep/cooking.
Household errands – grocery shopping, dry cleaning, exchanging library books- just some of my normal responsibilities.

At the start of my employment my job description was explained as "mostly childcare with light housekeeping." I’ve been working with the family for 6 months and my duties have increased in number without their acknowledgement of the obvious extra work load. I plan on asking for raise, yet need advice on how much I AM WORTH! Thanks so much!!

Which GRILL would you get for your husband?

I’m trying to decide between these two grills. The 1st one is 9 at Home Depot and I have a 10% off coupon that expires on 11/29. This was on his wish list, but he said it doesn’t have to be this one. So I started browsing and I found a Kenmore Gas Grill for 9.99 and it was originally more. I’m thinking the Kenmore grill is better, but I’m not sure. Which one would you get?

        Hi!

I own a small (1700 sq ft) condo in San Francisco, a couple blocks from the waterfront with a separate (~800 sq ft) roof deck. Do you have any creative ideas for use of the roof deck?

        I was thinking of:

        *hot tub
        *garden
*outdoor furniture (lounge furniture or outdoor sofas, etc.)

My neighbors have been putting up grills for barbequing but I’m not really the outdoor cooking type myself.
The views are mostly city lights but I’d like to think up something creative.

          RU Prepared for BBQ Season?

It is always important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it’s the only type of cooking a ‘real’ man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

          Routine…

          (1) The woman buys the food.
          (2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
          (3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill – beer in hand.

          Here comes the important part:

          (4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

          More routine….

          (5) The woman goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery.
          (6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.

          Important again:
          .
          (7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

          More routine….

          (8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
          (9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

          And most important of all:

          (10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
          (11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there’s just no pleasing some women….

          BBQ Mentality?

Why is most indoor cooking (stove, microwave, etc.)considered women’s work, while all outdoor cooking (BBQ) is given over to the man? I know how to cook, and am willing to help, but seldom get asked to. I hate to BBQ though, but am always expected to.

Campfire Stew in a Coffee Can…?

I seem to remember that in Girl Scouts we used canned stew and packaged ham to make a soup in a coffee can. I am pretty sure we dug a hole in the ground and put the can in there to cook. Does anyone know exactly how to make this? I am taking my child camping this weekend and need some unique/fun outdoor cooking projects. Thanks!
