here is the recipe i’m using

    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Homemade-Black-Bean-Veggie-Burgers/Detail.aspx

    Homamade black bean veggie burgers
    INGREDIENTS
1 (16 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 green bell pepper, cut into 2 inch pieces
    1/2 onion, cut into wedges
    3 cloves garlic, peeled
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1 tablespoon cumin
1 teaspoon Thai chili sauce or hot sauce
    1/2 cup bread crumbs

    DIRECTIONS
If grilling, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil. If baking, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), and lightly oil a baking sheet.
In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.
In a food processor, finely chop bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Then stir into mashed beans.
In a small bowl, stir together egg, chili powder, cumin, and chili sauce.
Stir the egg mixture into the mashed beans. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into four patties.
If grilling, place patties on foil, and grill about 8 minutes on each side. If baking, place patties on baking sheet, and bake about 10 minutes on each side.

I went camping in the Florida Keys for about 5 days a little under two weeks ago. While there, I ate burgers, canned chicken, plain chicken, ramen, rice, etc. as well as water from the campsite. We cooked our food on a community grill. I also had sex, although it was a pullout method and I am on the pill (although I just switched brands). Now, two weeks later, I’m running to the bathroom after every meal and having frequent diarrhea, and my stomach has been gurgling and rumbling incessantly. This has been happening for about 4 or 5 days now.
Is it possible that I have contracted a parasite from my food or water, you think? Or would you think this might be pregnancy related instead? (The only time I had sex this month was once about 14 days ago and once again about 9 days ago).

It would be beneficial to have the burgers almost completely cooked so they would only require a small amount of final grilling and the addition of the cheese when required.

So I’m going to a barbecue with some friends, and I was wondering if I could do something a little extragavant. I know they’re all going to grill burgers, saucages and porkchops straight out of the bag (basically none of us cook much, we do more re-heating, but I have recently started dabbling in the art). I’d really like to treat them all to something a little more lovingly crafted and tasteful.

          Any ideas?

          Thanks in advance!

            Question about Grilling hot Dogs?

how do guys properly grill hot dogs on an outdoor gas grill??

I know u are supposed to put it on and rotate every 2 minutes… but can somebody give me an estimation of how many minutes TOTAL the dogs should be on the grill for?

also I heard you are supposed to only rotate 1/4 of the way… why?

wouldn’t it better to just rotate 1/2 the way like u do with steak and burgers?

I want to start making my own burgers and I don’t really have the option of getting an outdoor grill. I have done a little research on grill pans and G.F. grills and I can’t decide which one I should go with. It’s hard because there seem to be pros and cons for both, so I wanted to get some feedback from people who have used either (or both) of these grills. Also, if you think there is another way to make burgers besides putting it on a grill then let me know. I know some people broil them…but do they do this on a rack so the fat can drip down? Basically bottom line is I want a way to cook some burgers, so any recommendations are welcome. Thanks for your opinions!

Food to serve at outdoor autumn wedding?

Me an my fiance are getting married October 10th this year. We are having our ceremony and reception at this beautiful lake that has a veranda with tables and around 20 BBQ grills. We are only having 30 guests (all family save my best friend and her husband), and since our mom’s are making 2 big parts in our wedding (my mom is making my dress, his mom is making our cake) other family members want to join in and be part. Since we are already planning on a relaxed BBQ over formal catering, we told the other guests who wanted to help they could bring dishes. We didn’t think of the fact they would ask what to bring. The main course is burgers/veggie burgers, and we are supplying all the makings for these. What other foods would be appropriate for a casual outdoor fall wedding? We tried to think of some BBQ-type side dishes and could only come up with potato salad. We certainly don’t want 10 different people bringing potato salad lol. We are also going to test the idea of my butternut squash croquette recipe (pre-made of course) being re-heated on a grill this summer (not sure if this will work, but we’re going to find out since it is both of our favorite dish). Any other suggestions of what they can bring? We’re at a total loss.

O, as a note, over half of the guests, including me and my fiance, are vegetarian. Nearly everyone eats only organic, so we wouldn’t want someone to bring something like Jello, only to find only 3 or 4 people will actually eat it. And meat side dishes are fine, 11 people will eat them, but we would prefer mostly vegetarian so everyone can enjoy.

I’m using this small, portable charcoal grill for one of the first times going camping, and I was just wondering how long I’m supposed to cook hotdogs, burgers and chicken on it? The hotdogs and burgers might be pretty easy to tell if they’re done just by looking at them, but the chicken breast probably won’t be.

I know how to cook with charcoal, you just pile them up, soak em in lighter fluid, light em and then flatten em out on the grill. Wait til they get ashy and glowy and then start cooking. I’m just not sure how long…if I were grilling chicken over gas, probably about 10-15 minutes total.

Also…I have a hibachi style grill…it has two wire grids, one is closer to the bottom than the other. I’m just wondering, am I supposed to put the charcoals at the very bottom of the grill, or on the lower grid? Or can you do either to control the heat intensity?
I will be cooking these items on separate nights…the grill is small, diameter is only about 18 inches.
I’m pretty sure that to prevent e-coli, the meat just has to be at a certain temperature, not color. Otherwise, everything at restaurants would have to be served well done.

I have tried at home (i don’t have an outdoor grill)…to make thin, thin hamburgers similiar to the ones at Steak N Shake. Some people just call them homestyle burgers. I drain the fat off as I’m cooking them & get the pan real hot before putting the patty in…..are there any secrets? Thanks to all who answer…I don’t like big thick burgers!
