I want to cook a barbecue style brisket, except, I don’t have a smoker or charcoal grill. I have a gas grill, an oven, and a crock pot. My brisket is pretty small, only 2 pounds. How can I cook it ?

cooking on outside barbecue nearly every day using black pot (about a foot high) with open top. Something burning inside for about an hour. Then apparently pours it out into bottom of barbecue. Smells like burning cloth or rubber (bad smell). I am concerned about what is going on. Can anyone explain.

Fire does kill bacteria, but is it necessary to clean the grill every time.
And is cooking a barbecue expensive? Say like, every day? Or few times a week

I want to get a housewarming present for friends. I know they really like smoked food/barbecue. They have a standard Weber outdoor grill. Is a Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Grill a good idea? If they already have a regular grill, will the smokey mountain cooker be too similar to it or will it be a good addition?
Just to add, the couple I would buy this for loves cooking- they are definite foodies and have a kitchen stocked with well researched brand name appliances. I want to make sure I have my facts straight before I give them a big item like a smoker. Thank you all!

We’ll take the whole family for a day in our boat, and I was thinking in something easy and original. There’s no space for cooking neither barbecue. I’ll need to bring something easy and delicious from home. Any ideas?

Last Monday, my dad could not start up the barbecue, nor my father in law who are both smart men and presumably both have vast years of experience starting barbecues and cooking the food placed therein. This time, I believe that my dad left the coals outside and it rained a few days previously so the coals absorbed water. This was confirmeed to me in my previous question on this subject; one person saying that actually the coals absorb ambient mosture. Another person said that the coals should be soaked first in barbecue lighter fluid before starting them up. I was at a shopping center this morning and saw a barbecue with really hot coals and spewing out fire from the pit. I was afraid to approach them and ask them for advice on starting the fire because I had my sweet little baby boy with me and I didn’t want him to be near that hot flaming fire. How did they get such a hot fire? Can coals be dried out if they were soaked or absorbed water and then used again?
