Im planning out a list of meals for a camping trip with a grill and want to make kabobs, I know what will be on the steak one but I want to make a hawaiian marinaded chicken kabob.
All I can think to put on it is red bell pepper and pineapple. I’d like one more veggie to go on it..any suggestions?!

I love the taste of meat cooked on an outdoor grill. I’ve always used a charcoal grill and I thought it was the charcoal that imparts the flavor. I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to grilling. I like the ritual of actually building the fire. My brother uses a gas grill and says it makes no difference — that the smoke from the fat that hits the flames is what makes barbequed meat taste good. If that’s the case I may get a gas grill. Anyone with experience with both types of grills? Are the results the same?

And wondered if it is okay to heat a pan on the grill side. I can’t find any info from someone who’s used them a lot, and hear there is a griddle plate in the states you can buy but they don’t sell them in the UK. Will it ruin the grill bars if I warm pans on them?
Thanks everyone and especially Mark. That’s just what I wanted to know. We can’t get the griddle plate in the UK (I’ve searched everywhere online!), but I’ll look and see if I can get one shipped from the states. Either that or I should be able to make another grill plate to fit so I can use it to warm pans on.
